A Natural Musician

New England born artist, Mike Kach, boasts a hardy 30 years of study and performance, and it all began with an 8-Track tape and one fateful phone call.

At the ripe age of four years old, Mike’s ear tuned in on the spirited and legendary works of Jerry Lee Lewis, on the, then, modern technology of the 8-Track Tape. That’s where it all began.

Then one fateful day, at the age of eight, the phone rang. It was a local piano school offering free introductory lessons, and Mike answered the phone. What luck, or was it?

A born natural, Mike scored his first professional gig at 12 years of age, with his band, performing every Saturday at the Downtown Cabaret Theatre, in Bridgeport, CT.

A Natural Fit With Dickey Betts & Great Southern

Mike’s success continued throughout three decades, from reggae to rock and roll, proudly playing along side such greats as Chris Layton & Tommy Shannon (Double Trouble), Dangerous Dan Toler & Frankie Toler (Toler Bros./Allman Bros./Gregg Allman Band/Marshall Tucker), Greg Poulos (Freddie King), Gregg Allman, Allen Woody & Warren Haynes (Allman Bros.), Floyd Miles, Rick Derringer, Charlie Daniels, Johnny Neel, the 20 or so groups of incredibly talented local artists, in between, with which he opened for Buddy Guy, Lonnie Brooks, Leon Russell and more. He toured nationally with Molly Hatchet and was recorded by Relativity Records with Chris Anderson (Outlaws/Blackhawk) on his “Old Friend” album, among many other privately mastered cds.

And now, Mike Kach, armed with a soulful voice and his own spirited works, is the most recent addition to an already explosive cast, of Dickey Betts & Great Southern!

Copper Mountain 7-29-07
Dickey Betts & Great Southern: Copper Mountain. Colorado 7-29-07

Dickey Betts and his son Duane Betts brought their very special brand of Southern Rock to Copper Mountain’s Guitar Town Music Festival in the form of their band Great Southern under a glorious Rocky Mountain Blue Sky Day. On a large portable stage facing out to the mountain from the base area Dickey Betts led his six piece band onstage at approximately 6:30 for the closing slot of the two day music festival. With a backdrop of Marshall Amplifiers and Gibson Les Paul’s, Dickey and his Band were greeted with a rousing round of welcoming applause.

DICKEY BETTS & GREAT SOUTHERN
July 13, 2005, at Mexicali Blues Café, Teaneck, NJ
By Tom Skevin
There were enough Gibsons and Fenders on stage to have a guitar party Wednesday night at Mexicali Blues Café in Teaneck.
So Dickey Betts and his band did.
