Hey Lana, I did email you some time back about being a Wrangler for Dickey here in Toronto, Canada but I read your post so I'm re-applying. I know the chances of Dickey playing Toronto are slim, but in case he does come here I live and work in downtown and I frequent most of the major and small independant music and cd stores. Or even there is a show close by, say Buffalo, I can hang posters for that if you like. I've been a fan of the ABB and a big Dickey fan since I bought "Live at the Filmore" at K-Mart in 1972. (I remember it was $7 - specially priced!). I'd love to help out Dickey and his band in any way, I'm standing by!

Hey Lana,

Sent you an email long ago about Wranglers, consider me signed up again. I live in Worcester, MA but go to shows in NH, Mass, RI, CT and the Albany area. I would gladly help on shows in any of those places, they really aren't that far from me. Been a fan since the first ABB album, lived in Washington state, Minnesota and now Massachusetts.

Hi all,

Anyone going to see Dickey and the Band at Mulcahy's in Wantagh on May 9th. Lets do a get-together before the concert. I know it's still a few weeks away but time sometimes moves fast. There are a number of good bars in the area, or we can just get to Mulcahy's early. Post here or PM me to let me know.

Good news Wranglers,

The flyers for you to print out and fill in when DB&GS are headed to your town are in the Media Gallery under art! :-) They take awhile to load, so your virtuous patience is applauded.

What do you think, should we all get together for a web chat one night next week? How does Wednesday evening look for y'all?

Take care and know that you are loved,

Lana

Hi Lana:
Sent you a PM as well.
The posters look great, they did take a while to download but they are worth it. I guess you can't edit the dates, etc. right on the poster.
I only printed the skull so far but will be printing the train later tonight.
I'd love to take part in a web chat on Wednesday. Let me know the details.
Thanks again Lana.
Later, Karen

Hey Karen,

We can't post individual dates/venues on the downloadable pdf flyers. Magic Markers here you come! :-)

Looks like we'll have the Wrangler chat another time. This week doesn't seem to be good for folks.

Take care and know that you are loved,

Lana

Hi Lana,

I'd also like to sign up to help out. I'm originally from Macon, but live in Reno now. Don't know if Dickey has any plans to play here this year, but a lot of people from Reno make the drive to San Francisco and other coastal cities to see good shows. I'm a member of the Reno Blues Society, and frequent the record stores and live music venues. I'd be happy to post fliers and help out in any other way needed.

Hi again Lana:
Printed out the posters, they look great. Will be adding the dates via magic marker...
We will be travelling to Buffalo to hang up the posters around the venue, local records stores, music shops, poles if we're allowed too, etc.
Will also hang up posters in and around this area for locals that wish to travel to Buffalo.
Doesn't look like we'll have enough time to get to Rochester to put up posters but again I will do some locally.
This is going to be alot of fun, helping Dickey & the Boys out
Are you making the trip to Buffalo ?
Talk to you soon,
Later w/Love Karen.

Hi again sweet family,

The details of being a Wrangler are:

Wranglers keep up with the schedule of Dickey Betts & Great Southern and hand out/hang up flyers in advance of their shows to promote them. Flyers are available under Art Work in the Media Gallery. All you have to do is print 'em out and fill in the specifics of the Dickey Betts & Great Southern gig in your area.

Handing out flyers to folks at like-minded shows in your area and hanging them up on all the usual and customary poles and public bulletin boards is an effective, grass roots method of letting folks know the Band is coming to town. Another way to help is by requesting permission to hang up posters at record stores, coffee shops, kiosks, etc.

To find out if Wranglers are needed for a show you're interested in helping out with, click on that show's date on the Calendar. If Wranglers have already signed up, they will be listed under Event Information. For example, Karen & Lynn Bomberry are Wranglin' the June 21, 2002 show.

When Dickey Betts & Great Southern comes to town, we'll make sure Wranglers are on the guest list for the show. In rare cases, a venue may restrict the Band's guest list and another form of "thank you" will be extended.

Getting together as Wranglers is a great way to have a lot of fun, provide a real service to Dickey Betts & Great Southern and enjoy their shows even more. If you're truly born to be a Wrangler leave a message in the Wrangler section of the Forum or let Lana know the show you want to sign up for and she'll add you to the calendar. Thanks much!

Take care and know that you are loved,

Lana

Hey Lana,
I'd love to be a wrangler for the Dickey show in Brewster, NY at the Brewster Sports Dome on August 4. There are a ton of Dickey followers in the area and I'm sure me and my buddy Tim could help pack the show.
Thanks, Chris Ritzcovan

Hi Lana. First off, I want to thank you for allowing my wife and I to be Wrangler's for the Roxy show in Atlanta. We really enjoyed ourselves! Most of all, I finally got to meet my favorite cousin, DDT. He was EVERYTHING I expected, and more!
Danny is the kind of guy that just makes you feel like he has known you all his life. Even though we're related, we've never met before. My wife and I just felt like we've always been part of his life. The whole band was very down to earth and we both enjoyed their company. The sweet, mellow, sound is back and you can really tell that Danny and Dickey love to play together again. You can tell that the love for the music inspire's them more than ever now.
Anyway, My wife and I would like to be Wranglers for the Chattanooga show on June 8th. I love being able to help promote the band this way. It gives us a chance to meet other's that love this band like we do, and truely makes you feel involved in their success. Also, we'd like to do the July 27th show in atlanta as well.Oh, I wish we could have met you as well. I didn't know who you were until we got home and looked at the new pic's. We got to meet Bud, and hey, he's a cool dude too. Thanks Bud for the hospitality!!!
Thanks once again to you all,
Greg and Elizabeth Bowman[Edited on 5/20/2002 by GregBowman][Edited on 5/20/2002 by GregBowman]

Hey Greg,
Danny really enjoyed meeting you too. When we met up for dinner the first thing he wanted to talk about was meeting his cousin and how great that was! :-) Thanks so much for being part of the Great Southern family *k* and for helping share the joy. You're signed up to Wrangle both Chattanooga and ATL. I'm looking forward to sharing a hug with you in person real soon!
Take care and know that you are loved,
Lana

Lana, Elizabeth and I really enjoyed putting out the band flyers. We met alot of people who are going to the show in Chattanooga. We're looking forward to the show and maybe meeting you this time. I guess we're already on the guest list, but we'll be there early to maybe hook up with you and Danny. Hope to see ya tomorrow night. Oh, the event time on the tour dates says the show will be at 9:00. But the schedule at Riverbend says it will be at 7:45. Oh well, I guess we'll be there early anyway.
Hope to see ya soon........

Hey Greg ( and Elizabeth),
Thanks very, very much for all your hard work. It's great to know folks are jazzed for the show. You're right, today we talked about your name being on the guest for the show so you're all set :-) We're going to have to share our hug another time, though, because the Canes are in the Stanley Cup playoffs right here in Raleigh and Shey and I have tix. Go Canes!! (priorities ;-)) Please be on the lookout for George Piesch who's traveling all the way from Vienna, Austria for the show. If it helps, he has a big mustache, tattoos, and will be wearing a confederate hat. "Goliath" will also be there. Hope you all have a wonderful time ... and know that you are loved,
Lana

Happy Monday All:

We had a Good Wranglin Sunday in Buffalo yesterday.
Well we splattered Pearl Street with Dickey Betts & Great Southern posters. Lynn, Nicole, Shelby & I had fun taping posters to the poles while it was raining.
We checked the Tralf but it was closed. It is located right beside Shea's Performing Arts Centre & tucked a little behind it. Once you enter the front doors, veer right to escalator or hop the elevator to the upper level. Tralf Box Office and main entrance is located there. We didn't get to see the actual inside but we will on Thursday night as we are travelling back to Wrangle before, during and after the David Wilcox show at the Tralf.
Across the street is a couple bars with drinks & food, reasonable prices, Route 66 Lounge & Grill, Backstage Pub & up the street was Vinney's Bar. There is plenty of parking lots up & down Pearl Street as well as one or two streets away, within short walking distance. We also hit Fye records, Lafeyette Tap Room and also checked out the Great Guitar Gig at the Erie Basin Marina. It was wet & cold but awesome tunes, we always imagine Blue Sky wherever we go. We caught the end and I mean very end of North Mississippi Allstars but next up was, get this, the one & only Bo Diddley. Was that a blast or what. Of course last song was Bo Diddley, he also mentioned on December 30, 2002 he will be 74.

We Wrangled there too. Hung up posters at the main event table and left some of the small flyers.
One of the vendors was Gibson Guitars. You could jam on any guitar they had in there & get some nice posters of their different guitars. Of course the 1957 Les Paul Goldtop Reissue, Dickey's baby was there. I had on my Dickey T-shirt and Lynn had on his Dickey hat, the guy noticed and says how about a couple of these posters for ya. It's a really nice flyer with Dickey promoting this reissue guitar. He said he would be at the Dickey show on Friday. I gave him a bunch of our flyers and he said he would gladly hand them out too.
We also met a guy with a Dickey t-shirt on and gave him some small flyers but I'm not too sure if he'll remember.

For all you those thinking of Wranglin', sign up & get yo Butt out there.

It's a lot of fun & you get to make it what you want. We always like to make things fun & get a little music in too, I mean something like this can't be called work. We had our own posters and small colour flyers made up again and we'll be back to Wrangle Buffalo on Thursday.
There is nothing more satisfying than to promote this Band of Dickey Betts & Great Southern, thanks for the opportunity guys.

Later, Karen

Hey Lana, Hope I'm in the right place, I can do the Freebird Cafe on Aug 24th, If you still need me, Paul and I are planning on going, so I was going to print up some posters and go visit my niece one day next week and get some hanging around town. What better way to spend time with my beautiful 20 year old niece and turn her on to some good music at the same time! I checked the website for the local radio station up there and Dickey is on their calander, The freebird is a pretty popular place and from the turn out last time I,m sure it will be packed again. What do you think about putting up some info on MagnoilaFest while I'm at it? Iknow its a little early but Jax Beach is right down the road from Live Oak, and while we have everyone's attention we may as well take advantage of it, right?
Just let me know
Heidi (paulr's better half) ha!ha!
