Hey folks-this is my first post here, but I've been listening to Dickey (and the ABB) most of my life, and been going to see him live since 1979.His show this past Friday night was an eye opener,to say the least.I haven't seen Great Southern since they played the same venue in the summer of '07.The improvement in this current lineup of GS is staggering, man! The new drummer is a fit,Andy has really found his role with the band (last time,he was playing an LP and some slide-this time,a strat for most of the night, and a lot of slide),in short, everything! This lineup,IMHO,is the first one I've seen where the musicians are both up to Dickey's standards AND they listen to each other and play as a proper unit-damn!I saw Dickey solo in the 80's a number of times, but didn't make it out to see him this decade until 2003,so I can't comment on the band 2000-2002.There was a large ,appreciative crowd this time around-something he's not always had on his previous shows at this place(mainly due to being co-billed with the wrong acts before, with the exception of Little Feat in '04).I only caught the first set,due to working a 3rd shift job these days, but I highly recommend to anyone to go see this band!I hope Dickey sits in with the ABB at the Beacon run this year, but he's sitting fine either way, having a group as good as this one is.I'm glad to see this forum exists for one of the true greats, and hello again to every one here.

Welcome anibas.... Thanks for your thoughts on the show and this lineup... I personally have loved all the lineups of Great Southern, but I am really just blown away by this group of musicians with Dickey... they are all so great together or individually...

GO see this band....
