DICKEY BETTS & GREAT SOUTHERN TO OFFER NEW LIMITED-EDITION LIVE CD SETS!
For the first time since 2004, Dickey Betts & Great Southern have partnered with RockHouse Live Media Productions to offer new "instant" live CDs of the upcoming shows in April and again in June! These will be strictly limited to 500 copies for each show, and each CD set, packaged in handsome double-CD digipaks, will be individually numbered to commemorate the edition. Not to be confused with "sound board" recordings, these are fully mixed and mastered on the fly, so not only can you walk out with one in your hand (if you go to the show), but you will also have "near studio quality". Brought to you by the same team that has recorded Peter Frampton for over 130 shows, you will love this CD set. Whether or not you are going to the concert, you can pre-order your copy by going to RockHouseLive. You may opt to pick your CD up at the show, or you may have it conveniently shipped home to you - your choice! Either way, don't wait: the 2004 recordings sold out, and we expect these to as well! Reserve your copy today at RockHouseLive!

.....in the end, Dickey decided to stay home
The Allman Brothers Band was honored by the Grammys with a lifetime achievement award. Alongside fellow legends Diana Ross and Glen Campbell (among others), the ABB, including original members Gregg Allman, Butch Trucks and Jaimoe, with Duane Allman's daughter Galadrielle , Berry Oakley Jr., keyboardist Chuck Leavell, Derek Trucks, Warren Haynes and other current members took the stage to accept their awards. At the last minute, Dickey called me and asked if I would represent and accept his award. Long thought and many conversations brought him to this decision. He called me just prior to emphasize the fact that he wanted no excuses made about it. He wasn't sick, he didn't miss a plane, he simply decided not to attend. He wanted me to, first and foremost, thank his fans for staying him through all the ups and downs. He asked me to thank Bill Graham for believing in the Brothers. He said to thank Phil Walden for getting them started and producers Tom Dowd and Johnny Sandlin for keeping them going. It was a great evening. He was certainly missed. A couple of the Brothers even called Dickey to share the moment. He really appreciated the honor, he really cherishes the memories, but in the end, Dickey decided to stay home.

Gibson Exclusive: Dickey Betts Talks Allman Brothers and His Legendary SG
In the early days, The Allman Brothers Band was brought to life by the earth-shattering interplay of guitarists Dickey Betts and Duane Allman. Gibson Custom has commemorated the guitar legends’ partnership with the new Dickey Betts “From One Brother to Another” SG. The guitar is an exacting reproduction of one of the most famous axes in music history, the SG Standard Dickey gave to Duane. Betts recently stopped by the Gibson Custom Shop in Nashville, Tennessee, and spoke with fellow guitarist Lee Roy Parnell about the SG, his days with the Allmans and what he’s got planned for the future.
Check out the whole article, with exclusive video, at Gibson.com, and for more information on the Dickey Betts SG, you can check it out here!

And he said...

"I don't write music, I still play it by ear. I learn to play it myself and bring it to the band. It would be nice if I knew how to write music - and the band knew how to read it! :-) Now, I explain in vague, intangible terms, like "and now it's like a waterfall". "
